The
basic types of commercial car washes are: Self
Service
The coin operated, self-service
car wash is a facility which offers car wash cleaning service to consumers
who provide their own labor. The self-service car wash
business requires everyday attention. Just like any other business,
the owner must care for and take an active interest if you want to have
a successful business.
In-Bay
or rollover automatic
The in-bay automatic provides
an excellent means to produce additional income from approximately the
same amount of space that is required for a self-service bay. In-bay automatics provide
a relatively fast wash (approximately 2.5 - 4.0 minutes per car depending
on the wash options selected). Recent studies show that
the primary customers for in-bay automatics are single-family homeowners
between the ages of 30 and 49, earning between $25,000 and $40,000 annually.
In-bay automatics are especially appealing to women and business persons. Conveyor
or Tunnel Systems
Among the various types
of vehicle wash facilities, the conveyor, or "tunnel" washes, certainly
maintain the highest profile in the car wash industry. These are
the original automated washes. While these washes occupy
more space and require more capital, management and additional service,
the potential for income is greater with the full service or tunnel operation.
